      Additional Instructions for Maps

The maps are located on slide 1.

COPY AND PASTE THE MAPS INTO YOUR PRESENTATION
----------------------------------------------

To copy and paste the map into your existing 
presentation...

1) First open the map (.ppt) file
2) Edit menu
3) Select All
4) If you do not want the Title (e.g. Texas)
   then hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard
   then select the Title placeholder to 
   de-select the title.
5) Edit menu
6) Copy
7) Go to the slide in your existing presentation
8) Edit menu
9) Paste


EDITING THE MAPS
----------------

The Text labels for each city are individual 
text boxes in powerpoint. However, The map is 
'grouped' together for easy scaling and 
copying and pasting. 

If you want change the map for
any reason (for example to re-color it), then you will
need to 'un-group' the map.

1) Select the map
2) Click the "Draw" menu (located bottom left)
3) Choose "ungroup"
4) The map will then be ungrouped into 4 sub groups

The four subgroups are:
- The top layer - Major City Circles
- The next layer down - Major Roads
- The next layer down - Major Water areas
- The bottom layer - The Land


CHANGE THE COLOR
----------------

Un-group the map as detailed above. Then either click 
the land area to select it, or press the "TAB" key 
(located next to Q on your keyboard) on your keyboard, 
powerpoint will cycle through all the objects on the 
slide. When the land is selected, you can then 
re-color it using the normal "fill color" and
"line color" buttons (located on the bottom edge).

DELETING ALL ROADS/WATER/CITY MARKERS
-------------------------------------

If you want to delete the roads/water, then select the 
road or water group, as above, then when it is selected 
press the "delete" key on your keyboard. If you delete 
the wrong group by mistake, just select the edit menu, 
and choose "undo".

EDITING INDIVIDUAL ROADS/WATER/CITY MARKERS
-------------------------------------------

If you want to edit individual roads/city/water areas, 
then you will need to "un-group" each group once more.

1) Select the map
2) Click the "Draw" menu (located bottom left)
3) Choose "ungroup"
4) The map will then be ungrouped into 4 sub groups
5) Choose "ungroup" once more
6) The individual objects are now ungroup into single items

Select an individual object to edit it.

TIP: If you want to zoom into a particular object, select 
the object *First* then zoom. Or hold down the CTRL key and move 
your wheel on your wheel mouse to zoom in/out.
